Mr. Weller has a special guest speaking to his General Music class. He is using Skype (available on all CFF laptops) to make contact with Jason Davis while he is in Texas. This is a free technology, and a great resourse. Read how he describes his lesson:
Dr. Joseph Pisano (Music Technology Professor) from GCC will be joining us alongside Jason Davis (from the Jason Davis 5 in Austin Texas) to discuss important issues related to music in today’s society. Among the issues we will discuss include the PAL Program (Parental Advisory Labels), Downloading Music and Copyright Infringements, and the future of the Music Industry. Jason Davis is also a representative for a number of band in Texas, and is very involved in getting new contracts and performance opportunities for groups.
How exciting! Great Job Mr. Weller!
I made a video of his presentation to demonstrate how he included the professional from Texas into his classroom without costing a penny!
Thank you Mrs. Sevin! I had to chuckle when she entitled this part "Leading the Herd...". Not to oversimplify things, but the pictures below demonstrate a great analogy about learning new technology: 1) Yes, it will buck you off from time to time, and 2) Yes, it will be frustrating at times. I am finding that the student response to learning and incorporating some new things is really making a difference in their perceptions of the class.
